CUSTOM YARD SIGNS READY TO BE DELIVERED!

Celebrating the Class of 2020

Seniors across the country are facing the realization that graduation will not look like they have always imagined. With social distancing orders staying in place, schools everywhere are getting creative. Last week, Edison kicked off the first of several unique ways we will celebrate our seniors.

All 24 seniors received a surprise visit and special delivery from a teacher or staff member. The delivery contained a care package including their cap and gown, candy (to help with focus!), and a customized yard sign. Students were genuinely surprised and families happy to see a familiar face.

"It feels real now ", was a common theme heard by Rachel Hansen, Edison art and science teacher, and graduation coordinator. For Mrs. Hansen, the delivery day marked the beginning of sending off our seniors and held special meaning. "They deserve to have graduation 'feel real now ', " shares Mrs. Hansen. In a time of Zoom classrooms and Brady-bunch style meetings, the deliveries provided a much need moment of personal connection for both teachers and students.

Mrs. Hansen and the Edison faculty and staff are brainstorming creative ideas for planning a graduation ceremony for the class of 2020. Stay tuned to hear how these plans evolve and how we plan to send off our graduates in a meaningful way.
